Background of the study
Digital political outreach has become a pivotal tool for political candidates seeking to enhance voter engagement. In Kano, candidates are increasingly utilizing email campaigns, social media interactions, and online town hall meetings to reach out directly to voters (Mustapha, 2023). This comparative study examines how different digital outreach strategies influence voter engagement for a political candidate in Kano. The research assesses the effectiveness of personalized messaging, real-time interaction, and targeted content delivery in motivating voters to participate actively in the electoral process. Digital outreach offers advantages such as immediate feedback and the ability to tailor messages to specific demographic groups. However, challenges such as digital literacy, online misinformation, and platform fragmentation may hinder outreach efforts (Adeniyi, 2024). By comparing various outreach methods and analyzing voter response data, the study aims to identify best practices and determine which strategies most effectively convert online engagement into voter participation (Okoro, 2024).
Statement of the problem
Political candidates in Kano face difficulties in converting digital outreach into sustained voter engagement. Although numerous digital tools are available, inconsistent messaging, low digital literacy, and the spread of misinformation often diminish the impact of outreach efforts (Mustapha, 2023). The absence of an integrated digital outreach strategy leads to fragmented communication, making it challenging to build long-term voter relationships. This disconnect results in suboptimal voter participation despite high online engagement levels. This study aims to address these issues by comparing various digital outreach strategies and identifying the factors that contribute to effective voter engagement. Understanding these factors is essential for refining digital outreach tactics and improving overall campaign performance (Adeniyi, 2024).
